Social Sites 2010 for iPhone and iPad
NewsGator unveiled its new iPhone and iPad apps that will extend the rich social computing experience of enterprise collaboration software called Social Sites for SharePoint 2010, the only social computing suite fully integrated inside the Microsoft SharePoint 2010.
NewsGator Social Sites goes beyond SharePoint 2010 capabilities to make your organization truly social with improved micro blogging, an aggregated activity stream, a full range of mobile clients, and rich social insights.
The new apps offer native, browser-less social computing experiences consisting of all the content and professional interaction available in a user’s desktop environment including the recently announced News Stream for Social Sites 2010 and Idea Stream for Social Sites 2010 solution packages.
By enabling News Stream, iPhone and iPad users will see news and article headlines streaming onto their mobile device under “Me” tab. They can click on any article link and see the full article including images and video. As per Idea Stream, if activated on the home server, users can formally propose ideas to peers, communities, and structured Social Sites campaign workspaces as well as vote on others’ ideas.
In conclusion, these newly iPhone and iPad apps provide deeply integrated access to SharePoint content libraries, including documents, pictures, announcements, contacts, tasks, bookmarks, and more. These apps help to close the gap between SharePoint as an enterprise collaboration platform and the mobile revolution.
