What if the decision to go with SharePoint as your public facing platform has been made and your staff is not qualified to take such a project? You have three choices: Send your staff to get trained in as little time as possible considering that you have such a capable staff at your disposal, hire someone with such skills or hunt for a decent and affordable consulting company. If your IT department does not include someone with basic SharePoint and graphic design skills and hiring process takes too long then the third choice will be the safest; and in some cases the cheapest.

EPC Group.net engaged with us for the past 6 months near D.C. on developing our SharePoint Server 2010 ECM initiative as well as our Extranet and Internet facing site. We have 3 full time SharePoint Admins in house and I thought they did a great job in knowledge transfer to our team to bring them up to speed and their PM’s and PMO made the project plan and everything very transparent and supplied us with a secure Project Server site so that we could access everything 24/7. They also worked with our Chicago offices and gathered their requirements and worked on our DR Strategy and Virtualization of the entire environment. It made my like a lot easier and it made me look good to our CIO as I think I would be out of a job if i had picked the wrong firm. They were not the cheapest firm out there but it was worth it as they did everything from A to Z including post training, customized workflows, helping us setup our metadata and content type strategy, did our custom branding, gathered requirements and continued to ensure we were not doing things that would cause an issue for the upcoming SharePoint 15. That was long winded but I wanted to give them kudos for their long night and early AM sessions to accommodate my and our team schedules. I would highly recommend EPCGroup.net based on my experience from the past 6 months with their team.
